Terms of Service

1. Agreement to These Terms

By accessing, creating an account for, purchasing, or using ThesisHub, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use ThesisHub.

If you use ThesisHub on behalf of an institution, organization, company, academic program, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to use the service on its behalf and, where applicable, to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. The ThesisHub Service

ThesisHub is a guided research and thesis-development workspace designed to help users organize research and maintain connections among research materials, project structure, writing, review, and completion.

Features may include research planning, brainstorming, research questions, notes, research cards, literature-review organization, outlines, statements, writing tools, citations, surveys, interviews, charts, tables, figures, project requirements, timelines, reviewer collaboration, institutional management tools, AI-assisted research features, and document export.

We may add, modify, improve, discontinue, or replace features from time to time as the service evolves.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for providing accurate account information and maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

You are responsible for activity occurring through your account unless that activity results from circumstances for which you are not legally responsible.

You must promptly notify ThesisHub if you believe your account has been accessed or used without authorization.

Accounts may not be transferred, sold, rented, or shared in a manner that circumvents account restrictions, subscriptions, institutional seat limits, or security controls.

4. Academic Responsibility

ThesisHub provides tools that assist users with organizing and developing academic research. ThesisHub does not replace the student's, researcher’s, advisor’s, instructor’s, or institution’s academic judgment.

You remain responsible for your research methods, source selection, factual verification, citations, analysis, interpretations, conclusions, writing, academic integrity, ethical compliance, and final submitted work.

ThesisHub does not guarantee that work produced or organized through the service will satisfy the requirements of a particular institution, advisor, journal, review committee, accreditation body, or academic program.

5. Artificial Intelligence

ThesisHub may provide AI-assisted research tools intended to support activities such as brainstorming, exploring research directions, developing questions, identifying keywords, organizing concepts, and assisting with research planning.

AI-generated or AI-assisted output may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, misleading, or inappropriate for a particular research context.

You must independently evaluate and verify AI-assisted output before relying on it.

ThesisHub's use of AI assistance does not transfer authorship, academic responsibility, or decision-making responsibility from the researcher to ThesisHub.

You are responsible for complying with institutional, instructor, publisher, funding-agency, and other rules governing the use and disclosure of artificial intelligence in academic work.

6. User Content and Ownership

As between you and ThesisHub, you retain ownership of the original research, writing, notes, project materials, documents, images, and other content that you create and submit to the service.

You grant ThesisHub a limited, non-exclusive right to host, store, reproduce, transmit, process, display, and otherwise handle your content solely as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and provide the service and features you request.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to upload, store, process, share, or otherwise use any content that you submit to ThesisHub.

7. Research Ethics and Participant Information

If your research involves human participants, interviews, surveys, private data, sensitive topics, confidential information, or regulated information, you are responsible for determining and satisfying all applicable ethical, institutional, contractual, and legal requirements.

This may include obtaining approval from an institutional review board, ethics committee, advisor, department, or institution before collecting or processing information.

ThesisHub does not provide institutional ethics approval and does not determine whether a particular research activity is exempt from or subject to review.

8. Acceptable Use

You may not use ThesisHub to:

• Violate applicable law or the rights of another person.
• Upload, distribute, or process material that you do not have permission to use.
• Engage in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, academic fraud, or other misconduct.
• Gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, data, infrastructure, or networks.
• Introduce malware, malicious code, automated attacks, scraping systems, denial-of-service activity, or other harmful technical activity.
• Attempt to circumvent security controls, usage restrictions, account limitations, subscriptions, or institutional seat controls.
• Use ThesisHub to unlawfully collect, expose, or misuse personal or confidential information.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation, authority, identity, or academic status.
• Use ThesisHub in a way that materially interferes with the service or another user's use of the service.

9. Institutional Use

Institutional accounts may include tools for managing cohorts, rosters, invitations, research projects, assignments, users, and project progress.

Institutions and authorized institutional administrators are responsible for ensuring that users are properly authorized and that information entered into ThesisHub is collected, disclosed, and managed in accordance with applicable laws, institutional policies, and agreements.

Institutional access does not transfer ownership of a student's original academic work to ThesisHub.

10. Subscriptions, Trials, and Payments

Certain ThesisHub features may be available through free evaluations, trials, paid plans, one-time purchases, institutional access, or other account arrangements.

Pricing, included features, duration, seat limits, and other plan terms are those presented to you at the time of purchase or activation.

Where payment processing is provided by a third-party payment processor, your payment transaction may also be subject to that provider's applicable terms and privacy practices.

Unless required by applicable law or expressly stated otherwise at the time of purchase, fees already earned for access to the service are not automatically refundable merely because a user elects to stop using ThesisHub.

11. Service Availability

We aim to provide reliable access to ThesisHub, but the service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, infrastructure issues, security events, third-party service failures, upgrades, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of every feature at all times.

12. Backups and Export

ThesisHub may provide tools for saving, organizing, and exporting academic work. Users remain responsible for maintaining copies of important research materials and final work appropriate to their needs.

Users should not rely on any online service as the sole copy of irreplaceable academic or research materials.

13. Intellectual Property

ThesisHub and its software, interface, design, branding, documentation, platform architecture, original content, and related intellectual property are owned by ThesisHub or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, reverse engineer, or create derivative services based on protected portions of ThesisHub.

14. Third-Party Services

ThesisHub may depend on or interact with third-party services such as hosting, storage, email, payment, analytics, content delivery, security, and artificial intelligence providers.

We are not responsible for third-party products or services except to the extent responsibility cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Suspension and Termination

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to ThesisHub when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, respond to unlawful activity, address security concerns, enforce these Terms, or comply with legal obligations.

Users may stop using ThesisHub at any time, subject to any applicable payment, institutional, retention, or contractual obligations.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ThesisHub is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

ThesisHub does not warrant that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, completely secure, or suitable for every academic, institutional, regulatory, or publication requirement.

ThesisHub does not guarantee academic results, acceptance of a thesis or dissertation, publication, graduation, grades, research validity, institutional approval, or any particular educational outcome.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ThesisHub will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, opportunities, data, academic work, reputation, or business arising from or relating to use of the service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability, so some portions of this section may not apply to you.

18. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your unlawful use of ThesisHub, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of another person's rights, or content that you submit without appropriate authorization.

19. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as ThesisHub evolves, our services change, or legal requirements develop.

When material changes are made, we may update the effective date or provide other notice as appropriate. Continued use of ThesisHub after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of those revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.

20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Kansas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of ThesisHub will be subject to the jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Kansas.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights or protections that may apply to you under applicable consumer, privacy, education, or other laws that cannot legally be waived.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly applicable to a particular subscription, institutional arrangement, or service, form the agreement governing your use of ThesisHub.
